Our Locations

  • “This property is a outdoor paradise! Tillman creek meanders through part of it. Under a grove of Cedar trees, there is a lovely place to access the creek year round where it is only a couple inches deep. In another area of the property, where the creek loops back, there is a single file walking bridge that leads up to the Cascade to Palouse Trail. This makes access almost a daily occurrence. There is a wet land area where cattails and willows grow. The property owners maintain a grass maze, which provides hours of amusement. We have seen lots of birds species, deer, insects, garter snakes, as well as a diverse variety of invertebrate water species.” -Teacher Ruth

  • “The Forest border is an amazing place to take children. The tall pine and cedar trees block the place from weather, it is nature's sanctuary. The children get to explore to see fungus, moss, nurse trees, and large puddles. There is amazing opportunities to work together and build forts, play hide and seek, use tools. There is also spaces for field games around the school.” -Teacher Carlie

Upper County

Where it all began! Our upper county locations offer a diverse landscape for students of all ages. A highlight of our upper county locations are the water features! Cooper River Estate provides a cool spot to play in the creek during hot summer camp months, while Roslyn Urban Forest provides a convenient location to all things Roslyn! Our CERSD After-school program enjoys exploring the forest just behind the schools. A whole new meaning to “you’ll never know what you’ll find in your own backyard!”

  • “I love the terrain in the Roslyn Urban Forest and the challenges it creates for kids learning to navigate the outdoors. They get to use their bodies to climb up and down steep grades. I love watching them develop confidence in themselves and become more comfortable in nature.” -Teacher Shannon

  • “Every season is amazing and so different. The fall especially is stunning with the deciduous trees turning. There is so much diversity including pine trees for climbing, willow trees for forts, aspen groves for exploring and trails for running. In the spring and fall the ponds are rich with life from frogs to snails. The whole park is full of bird diversity from song birds to crows and magpie’s to owls and birds of prey. The spring is rich with wildflowers and butterflies everywhere. The open grassy meadows are perfect for laying in the sun and enjoying the sounds, smells, and the breeze. In winter the ponds dry up and there’s an island that’s great for playing and sliding in the snow. The cattails around the pond are a favorite for fuzzy, messy fun! This park is a gem in every season! “ -Teacher Raychel

Ellensburg

Our Ellensburg locations provide a different perspective on Kittitas County! While Paul Rogers hosts aspen groves galore and a wide variety of other trees, McElroy provides a late springtime oasis with shade and water to cool down in.

  • “McElroy is a park that children really seem to enjoy. There is a creek running all the way around it, a pond where lots of algae, cattails, frogs, and sometimes ducks live. There are cracking willow trees to climb, little alcoves where the water is shallow enough to play in, and worms everywhere. Even when the creek floods, children have a good time slushing around in the water and race boats made of bark on the rush. The outdoor playground has logs for balance beams and rocks to jump off of. The field is fun for running and making snowmen, and across the way there are fruit trees to climb in.” -Teacher Carlie
